Missouri man struck and killed while walking along I-35

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a pedestrian died on I-35 over the weekend. The Patrol says the crash occured about 20 miles north of Cameron in rural Daviess County at 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say 26-year-old Darwin Alberto Chavez Cardoza of Grandview was walking on the shoulder from a 2009 Nissan Morano, that was parked partially in the highway.

A semi-truck, driven by 39-year-old Brian Froman of Topeka, Kansas, collided with the Nissan, went off the road, struck Chavez Cardoza, collided with the guardrail, and overturned.

Chavez Cardoza was pronounced dead about two and a half hours later.
